SparkNote Privacy Policy

Effective 25 October 2026

SparkNote is a journal app for iPhone made by Shenzhen Shengwei Innovation Technology Co., Ltd ("we"). This policy explains what SparkNote does with your information.

Your journal stays on your iPhone

Your notes, photos, digests, moods, memories and settings are stored only on your iPhone. We run no servers and have no accounts, so we cannot see, sell or share your journal. Deleting SparkNote deletes your journal.

AI replies (DeepSeek)

SparkNote's AI replies (AI Eureka and Smart Digest) are written by DeepSeek, a third-party AI service. Before anything is sent, SparkNote asks for your permission. With it, each time you ask for an AI reply SparkNote sends DeepSeek:

This is sent over an encrypted connection only to write that reply. It is not linked to your name, your Apple Account or any identifier, and it is never used for advertising. DeepSeek handles it under its own privacy policy (deepseek.com). You can turn AI replies off at any time in Settings, and SparkNote works fully without them.

Health

With your permission, SparkNote reads health data from Apple Health. It never writes to Health. Health data is used only to give your journal and its AI replies context about how your day went. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never stored in iCloud.

Location and weather

With your permission, SparkNote uses your approximate location (never your precise position) to find your city and the day's weather through Apple's WeatherKit. If you don't allow location, the city is estimated from your internet connection. The city and weather are saved with your notes and, for AI replies, sent as described above.

Microphone, speech, camera and photos

Dictation turns your voice into text on your iPhone with Apple's speech recognition; audio is not saved or sent to us. Photos you take or choose are stored with your notes and are sent to DeepSeek only when you include them in an AI reply.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

What we don't do

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no selling of data.

Children

SparkNote is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
